The agreement reportedly intends for BASF to further develop a new class of high-performance automotive coatings based on Sirrus’ proprietary methylene malonate technology.
Market trends and consumer demands for enhanced ergonomic feel and touch, grippability, aesthetics, cushioning against impact, vibration isolation and insulation have driven novel developments in thermoplastic elastomers for overmolding applications.
For more than two millennia, asphalt bitumen has been used as a key raw component in the construction industry. Long before the first oil refinery produced its first barrel of asphalt, builders and waterproofers used natural sources of asphalt for various applications. References to the use of asphalt are scattered throughout antiquity—early references in texts such as the Bible include the use of pitch or bitumen in the building of the Tower of Babel.
S. S. Banerjee, A. K. Bhowmick This paper reviews different types of high-temperature thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). The preparation, structure, and functional properties of these materials are discussed briefly. Strategies to further improve the high-temperature performance of these materials are presented herein. A synopsis of the applications of these high-performance materials in the automotive industry is reported, pointing out the gaps to motivate potential research in this field.
WASHINGTON (January 3, 2018) – Data collected and tabulated by the American Chemistry Council shows that growth in global chemistry during November was buoyed by a synchronized up-swing in the global economy.
As portions of the TPE market space mature, some TPEs approach commodity status in which there is little price or quality differentiation between compounders for comparable grades. A commodity trap emerges and escaping it becomes a key strategic objective. Globalization is affecting TPE market structure, acquisitions and pricing. Experience in Asian markets has taught compounders that price/quality can be tailored to different levels as market segments dictate.
3M's Find My Adhesive product selector tool makes the medical adhesive selection process easier.
hermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) have been widely used in many industrial applications, particularly auto motive weather seal applications.
Among film types, epoxy films are expected to witness a higher growth rate during the forecasted period.
Since their first appearance in the market, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) have mainly been utilized in injection molding and have experienced some difficulties gaining ground in the extrusion world, as this has traditionally been dominated by vulcanized rubber on the one hand and plasticized PVC on the other. However, in recent years there has been a strong tendency to reconsider TPEs as suitable candidates for a number of extrusion applications – a trend favored mainly in the fields of drinking water and medicine as a result of more stringent hygienic requirements.
