Keywords: Composite adhesive film; Formulation; SEBS; POE In the composite bonding process for medical dressings and food packaging, there are stringent requirements for the film in terms of food/medical grade compliance, bonding stability, and application adaptability. High-end SEBS/POE composite adhesive films have become the core material of choice in this field due to their eco-friendly & non-toxic nature, excellent bonding performance, and high tunability. Based on the core requirements of different application scenarios, precise formulation tips are summarized below. I. Key Formulation Points for Soft Application Scenarios It is suitable for the skin-friendly layer of medical dressings, heat-sealing films for food packaging, and thin pipeline sealing films. The core requirements are high softness, conformability, and formability. Linear, low styrene content, and high-flow medical-grade SEBS grades are selected to ensure skin comfort while meeting the processing and forming requirements of thin films and avoiding film stiffening. Low melt index medical-grade POE grades are used in combination to enhance film flexibility and heat-sealing stability, preventing breakage and incomplete sealing during heat sealing. II.Key Formulation Points for ThickWall PressureResistant Application Scenarios Suitable for sealing films of medical pipeline connectors, sealing layers of pharmaceutical packaging materials, and composite films for food packaging. The core requirements are high bonding strength, pressure resistance, and sealing performance. Star-shaped, low styrene, low-flow medical-grade SEBS grades are selected to improve film rigidity and sealing performance, resist deformation caused by pipeline pressure and packaging stacking, and avoid sealing failure. High melt index medical-grade POE grades are used to enhance melt bonding strength, ensuring tight lamination of thick-wall layers and eliminating problems such as leakage and delamination. III. General Core Requirements Only food/medical grade compliant grades shall be used throughout the process, with strict control over harmful substance residues to meet industry safety standards. For both application scenarios, an appropriate amount of compliant compatibilizer is required to improve the compatibility between SEBS and POE and prevent film delamination. For medical applications, the air permeability of the film shall be further optimized; for food packaging applications, the temperature resistance shall be enhanced to suit subsequent sterilization, storage and other processes.
