SBS/SIS adhesive technology and its application

SBS is the abbreviation of styrene butadiene styrene three block thermoplastic elastomer. It is also known as thermoplastic styrene butadiene rubber, and is known as the third generation synthetic rubber. SBS has dual characteristics of both plastic and rubber, that is, it is plastic at high temperature and is elastic at room temperature. Do not need vulcanization, it has the properties of vulcanized rubber; it does not have to be made of plastic, but it has the properties of thermoplastic. SBS has good compatibility with many polymers, excellent solubility, melting at high temperature, low melting viscosity, easy to modify and so on. It has been widely used in architectural decoration, printing compound film, pressure sensitive adhesive, wood industry and bag shoe making industry.

At present, the main adhesives for decorative use are chloroprene rubber and SBS adhesives. SBS adhesive because of its structural characteristics, determines the chloroprene adhesive and compared with the initial adhesion and poor bonding strength is not big enough, especially for polar material adhesion is poor, maintain time is too short, not conducive to the construction operation, heat resistance, weather resistance and poor defects, application in the decoration industry has been extremely limited.

Research on modification of SBS at home and abroad has never stopped. Due to the lack of polar groups in SBS macromolecules, the SBS adhesive is not ideal when it is bonded to aluminum substrate, fireproofing board and PVC substrate. For improving the adhesion properties of SBS adhesive, it makes the research on the grafting modification, epoxidation of SBS based glue, but this will undoubtedly increase the cost of investment and industrial adhesives manufacturers, and the process is complicated, not care for this and lose that.

Now, just adding a SBS magnetic accelerator, you can produce a top class of good glue.
